18 Month Mark! (Week 76 In The Field)

Well, on Wednesday I will officially be 3 quarters into my mission. I can't believe that the time has come this far. I look back now, at the beginning to middle of my mission, and it makes me wanna cry. I don't want it to come to end so soon. I have too many great memories, and I just wanna go back to the beginning to relive them.

I miss all the wards I served in, and all the great Elders that I served with, and all the wonderful members and investigators I got to know. But I gotta keep looking forward, and finish strong! This is the final stretch, so I won't give up now.

We have been kept pretty busy the past couple weeks here in the Rye ward. On Tuesday we saw our investigator Vern, and we taught part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to him. He talks a lot, so it's really hard to fit in what we wanna say to him. He's really not progressing at all unfortunately, but we hope to extend a baptismal invite to him during our next lesson. He is the nicest man you would ever meet, he's super service oriented, and is always helping out someone. He would make a great member of our Church. :)

We went on exchanges with our district leader and his comp on Wednesday. I stayed in Rye with Elder Neff (the district leader) and my comp went to Wescliffe with his comp Elder Dunn. The exchanges were pretty strange. We Tried to go see a bunch of less actives, but no one answered. Then we went to go see Ivy, and tried to ease her concern on baptism. She is deathly afraid of the water, so next time we go we are going to give her a blessing of comfort so that she won't be scared of it.

Then we tried to go see a bunch of other people but no one was home. It was kinda discouraging. So we went to go talk to random people at the lake we have in our area. That went well. We handed out a Book of Mormon to someone, but they weren't too interested.

Then we had a lesson with our investigator Ethan and and a less active recent convert named JJ Lewis. We taught the commandments, specifically baptism and following the prophet. The spirit was super strong there, and I am sure Ethan is ready for baptism. We need to hurry and finish the lessons though if he's gonna get baptized on April 4th. At this rate we are running behind. He came to church Sunday, so we knocked out Law Of Chasity and Word of Wisdom with him during second hour. He seems to have no problem with it.

On Thursday we had zone conference with our mission president. That was really fun, we got to sleep over with our zone leaders the night before. But it has been a great week! Training is going well. Elder Zaugg is doing great, and is an awesome companion to to have! He is growing so much I can already tell! :)

Well I gotta go here soon. I just wanna let you all know I have a testimony of this Church and of this Gospel. It is the only full and living Church on the whole face of the earth, and I am blessed to be a part of it. I know that what I am doing is the most important thing that I will ever do in my entire life and that this is truly the Lord's work.

I love and miss you all so much and can't wait to see you soon! :) Until we meet again!

Youth Experience (Week 74 In The Field)

This week has been a really good week. Our youth had a mini mission experience yesterday, where they pretended they were missionaries and went out to teach active members, less active members, and some non-members. It went very well. They split the youth up into 6 different groups and they all had a part to teach in the restoration. We went with one of the groups to a part member family's house named the Zcaranotas. The youth did such a great job and the non member, Craig, is sincerely interested in learning more. So he agreed to take the rest of the lessons with the missionaries. It was such a great experience for the youth, and we were glad that we were able to go with that group of youth.

We will be going back Saturday to teach him again. We had to push back our other investigator, Ethan Gomez's date because we didn't feel like we would be able to finish all the lessons by then. So he agreed to be baptized April 4th, Easter Weekend. I'll keep you posted with that.

Training is going great. It's probably the hardest thing I have ever done, but it's exciting and I'm learning a lot, and so is he. I couldn't have asked for a better Elder to train. :)

Sorry I have to keep this one short. On Friday we had to make up a song about Christ like Attributes, for zone training, on the spot. So I just used one of the raps I wrote back at home, and tweaked the words a bit. It was pretty awesome and hilarious! :)

Also I found out an Apostle is coming to our mission on May 16th!! Don't know who yet but I'll keep you posted when I find out! I hope you all have a great week! Love and miss you!

Training (Week 73 In The Field)

This week has been crazy! On Tuesday I got my boy at transfers (the Elder I'm going to train) His name is Elder Zaugg and he is from Canada! Him and I get a long great so far. It's just tough because he knows nothing, and so I have to teach him everything. But it's really fun so far, helping him learn and grow. He's already grown in the past week I've been with him. I hope to be the best trainer that I can be. It's so hard, but I'm learning a lot on how to teach him how to teach.

We have had no luck getting in with our investigators this week, so that stinks because he's supposed to invite someone to be baptized his first week, but it is what it is.

We had dinner with a less active returning to activity, and he gave a great spiritual thought on how we always need to be trying to do our best, and the lord will help you. The spirit was strong and you can see his desire to do better.

We also had dinner with a potential investigator on Friday, who is really strong in her faith, but is super kind to us and loves us. She's Jewish, and believes a lot of the same things we believe, but she doesn't want to leave her current religion. But we gave a spiritual thought from the Book of Mormon and we asked if she would like one, but she politely declined. She is so nice though, and we had a blast at dinner.

That was the extent of our week. I've been trying really hard to get him teaching experiences, but haven't had to much luck yet, but we will continue to keep trying! :)

I hope you all have a fantastic week! Love you!
