Interviews (Week 81 In The Field)

So this past week was pretty eventful due to the fact that we had interviews with our President on Wednesday. That went really well, in my interview President told me about my upcoming song I will have to sing in front of Elder Holland on May 15th. I found out that I will only be singing with 3 other missionaries! And another missionary on the piano. I am so nervous now haha. I'm the only tenor. :/ It's gonna be me and another elder, and 2 sisters. 

I also found out that President Rehm had to ask Jeffery R Holland's approval for everything that's happening. Who plays piano, who sings, who says the opening prayer, etc. President sent him mine and the other missionaries names, just elder or sister and our last names and Elder Holland responded to President saying he wants first names with it. I thought that was so cool! So things just got more serious. I need to practice a lot more to be prepared for this in just 2 weeks. 

Well, that's the biggest update. Ethan will be getting baptized on Friday, so we need to do a little more preparing for that this week. Please pray that his baptism will go through. 

We met with our other new investigator Scott on Tuesday and that was another amazing lesson. Once again, the spirit was super strong and we think he is progressing super fast for baptism. :) His is scheduled for May 15th. So please keep him in your prayers. He is a super nice kid, and is really trying to change his life around. 

We also started working with a new less active, her name is Holly Bond. We had an amazing lesson with her and a member yesterday after lunch. She is really trying to change her life around as well, and this past Sunday was the first Sunday she's come to church in a while. The spirit was super strong in the lesson, and I felt impressed to ask her if she would like a blessing, and tears just started flowing out of her eyes, and she said she would really like that. She is a super nice lady, and she is a single Mom supporting 2 kids. Please keep her in your prayers as well. 

So the week ended kinda terrible, because Sunday night I started to feel sick and ended up throwing up 4 times, but I feel a lot better today! :) My companion gave me a blessing, so I think that helped a lot. 

Today Elder Zaugg woke up and he wanted cereal, but his milk had tons of Ice in it. So he was super mad about that. So jokingly, I said that he should pray and ask for his milk to be un-iced. Well he did, and seriously immediately after his prayer he shook his milk and you could hear the ice just start to melt away as he was shaking it. It was crazy like 5 seconds later the ice completely disappears. So please note that the power of prayer works for even the littlest of things haha.

BIG NEWS (Week 80 In The Field)

Well, I found out which one of the Twelve Apostles is coming to visit us on May 16th. But First I would like a drum roll please........The Apostle who will be coming to visit and talk to our whole mission, and who I will be singing in front of with a few other missionaries is......Elder Jeffery....R....Holland!!! :D  I can't believe I will get to see him live and sing in front of him! I am so excited! We found out Friday who was coming, and I got the music sheet so I can practice singing beforehand. I will be singing a unique version of Joseph Smith's first Prayer. Thank goodness there is a member here that has agreed to help me practice, and play the piano for me, because I have no idea how to read music or play the piano haha. Well that was my super exciting news! 

This past week started off terrible because I was sick, but as the week went on, I got progressively better! Thank goodness, because it sucks to be sick as a missionary. You have nothing to entertain you for a full day while you're lying in bed sick. But I'm glad I started feeling better by Thursday. 

Not sure if I told you all this, but we had to postpone Ethan's baptism to May 1st. He came to church on Sunday and he's doing everything right to prepare to enter the waters of baptism. We are excited for him, and hope it goes through. Please pray for him. 

We got a new investigator yesterday! He's a friend of one of the members in our ward. We taught him right after church the plan of salvation. His name is Scott Kinderson. He is a super nice guy and we committed him to baptism on May 15th that same lesson. It was an amazing lesson, the spirit was very strong there, and he really wants to get baptized soon. He is 18 years old, and will be going into the military in August. So he really wants a gospel foundation before he goes. We have another lesson with him on Tuesday, so please keep him in your prayers as well. 

No updates with our other investigators, but we are still working with them.

New Transfer (Week 79 In The Field)

Well, this past week was the beginning of a new transfer and it started off great! This will be my last transfer training Elder Zaugg, and its been a super fun and amazing experience. But this will probably be my last transfer with him, so we are going to make it the best one yet!

Well, some of you may know, but I've been trying to get permission to go home a transfer early for school. I prayed about it and it felt like it was the right thing to do. I had to fill out some paper work, send it to the mission president who will send it to my stake president to get his approval, and then send it back to my mission president. Well I received a text Friday from my mission president, telling me that I have been approved to go home a transfer early for school. So I will be coming home August 13th now! While I know that's coming up real soon, I promise I am going to work my hardest these last 4 months.

This past week we were able to meet with Ethan Gomez, and we were able to finish teaching him all the lessons, so he is now ready for baptism! :) We were planning on the 18th, however he texted us last night and told us that Saturday won't work because he has a wrestling thing he has to attend to. :/ We are going to try to set it for Friday instead, hopefully that will work for him. Keep him in your prayers, we really don't want to push back his date any further. We are going to meet with him Wednesday and discuss these things.

There has been virtually no progress between Vern and Ivy. They are both at a stand still, and we are trying to figure out what we can do to help them best. Keep them in your prayers as well.

President Rehm also texted me yesterday, asking if I sing tenor, and if I would be willing to sing a special musical number for the upcoming mission conference on May 16th. I will be singing in front of the whole mission, and one of the twelve apostles! I am super nervous and super excited at the same time. I still don't know which apostle is coming, and I don't know the details of the special musical number either. Not sure if I will have a solo like last time or not, but I will let you know when I found out. I just thought it was cool that president asked me personally to be a part of it. I better get practicing soon, but I can't yet because I just started coming down with a sickness yesterday. :/ I have a super scratchy throat and it's getting really annoying right now. Hopefully I will get better soon, because I hate being sick on the mission. Please pray for me to get better.

I have to go here soon. I love you all and I want you to know that I know that this church is true with all my heart. I am so thankful to be serving the Lord in Colorado Springs here at this time. I know that I am here for a reason. :) I hope you all have an amazing week!

Easter Week (Week 78 In the Field)

Well, it has been a great week celebrating the best thing that has ever happened in the world. The resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for that, because now we will all be resurrected and receive a perfect and Glorified body. #BecauseOfHim we all will conquer the grave and live in our Father in heaven's presence and with our families for Eternity. As our thoughts and our hearts our all turned towards the Savior during this Easter weekend, we had the privilege Saturday and Sunday to hear from our modern day Prophets and Apostles, as they bore witness of Christ's everlasting love and mercy towards us as his children. I am so thankful to be reminded by them, that He lives and that He loves every single one of us. The council they gave this General Conference was awesome! 

I learned a lot on the importance of Christ's mission while he was on the earth, and what we need to be doing to become better saints and emulate him more in our life. If you missed any sessions, I would encourage you to watch them, they were so good. 

This past week has truly been great. We got to see all our investigators. We are going to have to postpone Ethan Gomez's baptism due to the fact that we still need to teach him the last lesson, and he needs to show a little more commitment on coming to church. But he knows it is true, and is ready to receive this essential saving ordinance. He is an amazing kid and I am super excited for him to enter into the Lord's kingdom. 

We saw Vern too, and told him the importance of being baptized by one with proper authority, and told him that we are the only church that holds that. So we think he understands now, so next we just need to help him gain a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. 

We also saw Ivy and reminded her that she doesn't have to be scared of baptism. And tried to comfort her as much as we can. She is so ready! And knows everything is true. A member asked us to tell her next time why see her, would the Lord really let you drown on the most important day of your life? So next time we see her, we are going to ask her that. :) 

Craig told us that he's not ready to investigate just yet, but he is willing to have us over and read the Book of Mormon with him, so we are doing that.
