11 Month Mark On The Dot! (Week 46 In The Field)

Holy cow next month I will have been out in the mission field for exactly 1 year! It is so crazy how fast the time flys out here. It feels like just yesterday I entered the field and was being trained how to be a missionary.

And next month I will be able to go the Denver Temple to do some missionary work for those that have past on. In this mission we are allowed, on our year mark, to be able to go out of our mission boundaries and go to the temple as like a "you're half way through celebration" type deal. So next month I'll be able to do that, and see all the Elders I came out with, It'll be like a mini MTC Reunion, I am so excited! :)

So we had a pretty interesting week this past week. So remember the mission prep class we have been teaching every week? Well we invited the youth to invite their friends for them to practice teaching on for their future missions. One of the youth in our ward actually completed the challenge! She asked one of her best friends from school if she could use her to practice teaching on and the non member friend was totally cool with it. So monday night we went to her house to lesson plan with her so she can be prepared to teach a few sections of the restoration. She was a little nervous at first but she ended up doing a great job. We taught her friend the next day and the lesson went really well. She did a great job teaching some parts of the lesson and in the end her friend seemed interested and accepted a copy of the book of mormon. We hope that more of the youth will do this because it is a great way to practice for the mission.

So the rest of the week went kinda slow and we were kinda discouraged, but then Sunday rolled around and that changes quickly. After Church we went to go visit our investigator Lisa who is going through a lot right now. She really isn't progressing and we try so hard with her to get her to understand that reading the Book of Mormon can change her life. We talked with her for like an hour and invited her to watch a video on Mormon channel called the hope of Gods light. It is a really good video about how sometimes we feel like we are abandoned by God during our times when we most need him, but that it takes an act of faith before He just reveals himself to you. I invite anyone who hasn't seen it, to watch it. It is so good. So we really hope that Lisa can relate to this video and help her out.

After, we went to go see a less active family that we have been trying to see for a while now. We finally got in! They have a nine year old son that hasn't been baptized yet, who really wants to get baptized. But we had a really nice lesson with them and we set a date for his baptism on September 20! We will continue to teach him and his family and help him prepare for baptism. We think the parents might come back to church too! We are so excited to be able to work with them further. It truly ended up being a really successful week which makes me really happy. :)

I got to go now but I love and miss you all and want to let you know that I love being a missionary and being able to help others come closer to their Savior! Have a wonderful week everybody!
