The reason the switch is happening is because the missionary that is serving in the Briargate ward now is not getting along with his companion at all, so him and I will be switching places. I personally don't feel right about the switch, I feel like I was supposed to stay in Cordera for a reason and to serve with Elder Alpaugh to learn something from him. I emailed the mission president today, and told him how I feel about the whole thing. But maybe this is really what the Lord wants and I am just over stressing about the whole thing. I dont know, we will have to see how it goes.
Now that the bad news is out of the way, I can move on to the better stuff. Oh man did I love serving with Elder Alpaugh the few days that we have been together, he is a super good missionary and we had a super fun time together. Him, and his twin brother are converts to the church, they joined 2 years ago. His brother got sealed in the temple, and he made the decision to serve a full time mission. His parents weren't very happy with the decisions they both have made, but they both are being blessed because of it.
Anyways, so Tuesday, was transfer day, so I said good bye to Elder Mcghie and picked up Elder Alpaugh. I had a blast serving with Elder Mcghie, he is a good missionary. So not much happened tuesday, just unpacked everything. But on Wednesday we did a service, helping a non member move. It was in a super ghetto area. But while the other missionaries and I were talking, this 9 year old kid comes up to us, holds out an E-cigarette and asks us if we want a hit. We looked at the kid like he was crazy. I couldn't believe he was smoking in public and not only that but hes 9! He told us he started smoking all this bad stuff at age 6 and he sounded proud of it. So I threw down on the word of wisdom on that kid and straight up told him that is not something to be proud of, and to stop, because it is all terrible for you. I don't know if it helped any but I voiced my thoughts on him haha.
On Thursday we had to go downtown to take our car to the shop to get it fixed. We get there about noon, drop the car off and the guy said he would call us when he's done. So we go to lunch and walk around Walmart for a bit until the call. Well 4:30 comes along and we are both like, the car has to be done now. So we go back and the guy is like umm your car won't be done until tomorrow. I was wondering where you guys walked off to. We were both like what the heck. So we try calling a bunch of members to ask for a ride back, and finally by 6 we found somebody. Didn't end up getting home until 7 that night, So that was pretty crazy.
Friday was district meeting, and after, we got a ride from our zone leaders to pick up our car. That was pretty much the extent of our Friday. On Saturday we did service in the morning and went to stake conference later. Stake conference was so good! They talked about the importance of family history and how we all need to be involved in it.
On Sunday, stake conference continued, but it was cool because we got to hear messages from David A. Bednar and Richard G. Scott. They weren't actually there, they were just broadcasting it to a couple different states that were all having stake conference that day. The main focus was members and missionary work, and on how they can be more involved in it.
After, we had lunch with a member, then sang at the old peoples home with a few members of our ward. After that we had our sign language class, went to dinner, then had our mission prep class where we teach the youth. It was a really good day until that night I got the call. But I'm sure the Lord has a purpose for me to leave so suddenly and I pray everything will turn out okay.
I hope all is well back at home and hope you all have a good week. I love and miss you all!
